How to Prepare for Your Skills Assessment

15 June 2026 · James van der Merwe

European employers trust our candidates because we test everyone before presenting them. The assessment is not designed to trick you — it verifies that your experience matches your CV, which protects you as much as the employer.

For drivers, the assessment covers a practical driving evaluation, vehicle inspection routine, and knowledge of driving-hours rules. Arrive rested, bring your licence and PrDP, and drive the way you would with an examiner beside you: smooth, defensive and by the book.

For trades, you will complete a practical test in your discipline — welders weld, electricians wire a test board. Bring your own PPE if you have it, work cleanly, and don't rush. Quality matters more than speed.

For healthcare workers, the focus is on qualification verification, a clinical knowledge discussion and your communication skills. Be ready to talk through real scenarios from your experience.

The most common reason candidates underperform is nerves, not lack of skill. Remember: we want you to pass. Ask questions if instructions are unclear, and treat the assessment like your first day on the job you want.
